Dr. Cumhur Mumcu Aracsal Realizm (Instrumental Realism), Stratejik Realizm (Strategic Realism) ve Beklenti Teorisini (Prospect Theory) kullanarak Orta Dogu'daki buyuk catismalari analiz etti. Mumcu'ya gore hala akademisyenler Orta Dogu'nun Westphalia'sina mi yoksa Orta Dogu'nun Soguk Savasi'na mi dogru gittigimizi tartisiyorlar.

March 15, PhD Seminar: Asst. Prof. Kursat Aslan, "Factor Mobility in the Light of the Dynamics of Globalization: Laborforce Mobility in the Eurasian Geography"
Asst. Prof. Kursat Aslan gave a lecture as part of the PhD Seminar series, and explained how International Political Economy is increasingly trade-centered, and parallel to this development the laborforce mobility is gathered in global and local centers. In his presentation based on a field research, Aslan noted that laborforce mobility creates positive and negative consequences. The Eurasian geography is being shaped under the influence of these consequences.

Dr. Kursat Aslan Seminer Dersi kapsaminda yaptigi konusmada Uluslararasi Ekonomi Politigin giderek ticaret odakli hale geldigini, bu degisimle beraber isgucu hareketliliginin global ve local merkezlerde toplandigini anlatti. Saha calismasiyla destekledigi sunumunda Aslan'in belirttigi uzere isgucu hareketliligi hem olumlu hem de olumsuz sonuclar yaratiyor. Avrasya cografyasi da bu etkilerin altinda sekilleniyor.

The opening lecture of the PhD Seminars was conducted with a wide participation on Feb 22, 2013. Analyzing the Iranian nuclear crisis and its implications for Turkey, Nursin Guney noted: "It is still not late. There is chance for a win-win solution."
March 1, PhD Seminar: Assoc. Prof. Vişne Korkmaz: The Issue of Rising Power and Regional Security: East Asia
At the March 1st session of our seminar series, the topic was regional security in East Asia. Vişne Korkmaz noted that the East Asia security reflected in the long term a theoreticalness that would turn into a balancing with a hegemonic and rising power. This risk, however, allows for at least a 'cold peace' in the region.
March 8, PhD Seminar: Journalist Dr. Bora Bayraktar: Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process
Dr. Bora Bayraktar analysed the curretly dysfunctional Israeli-Palestinian peace process, with reference to current issues. Possible scenarios were also discussed: a two-state solution (very difficult for the Palestinians), a one-state solution (very difficult for the Israelis), and a three-state solution (2 separate Palestinian states in Gazza and the West Bank, and Israel).

Seminerimizin 1 Mart oturumunda Dogu Asya'da bolgesel guvenlik degerlendirildi. Visne Korkmaz, Dogu Asya guvenliginin uzun donemde hegemon ve yukselen gucun icinde bulunacagi bir dengelemeye donecek kurumsallıgı yansıttıgını soyledi. Ama bu risk, su anda bolgede en azindan 'soguk barisin' olusmasina sans veriyor.
