The Department of Political Science and International Relations, one of the three departments of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, was established in 1999 and has been conducting its educational activities since 2000. Our department aims to train experts in the fields of political science and international relations by imparting fundamental and up-to-date knowledge to our students; teaching the history of the international system, its current functioning, and its legal framework; introducing students to the foundational texts of political science and current scholarly debates; and, building on this knowledge, to foster critical and analytical thinking skills. Our curriculum, which is updated at regular intervals, covers a broad spectrum of topics; Turkey’s position within the international system—which is undergoing a major transformation—and its diversifying foreign relations are among the topics given special emphasis. Throughout the history of our department, we have worked—through both our curriculum and the extracurricular academic activities we support—to produce graduates who can effectively communicate their ideas both orally and in writing, excel in interpersonal relationships, possess representational qualities, and speak at least one foreign language fluently.
