Ph.D. Program in Political Science and International Relations
Program Objective:
Our program aims to train competent researchers and scholars in Political Science and International Relations. It provides students with the fundamental training necessary to conduct original, critical, and comparative research on social and political theories, issues, and topics, drawing on the holistic structure of the human and social sciences. To this end, it offers a rich curriculum covering a broad range of areas, including Social and Political Theory, Turkish Politics, Global Politics, Comparative Politics, and Area Studies. Courses in the program consist of seminars that address current scholarly debates within their socio-historical contexts—and thus in relation to practice—and that encourage active student participation and discussion.
Our program encourages aspiring researchers to define their own academic interests, research, and expertise. By providing a broad scope of freedom in academic advising, coursework, research opportunities, and thesis work, it enables students to develop their own scholarly identities.
Students who complete our program are equipped to serve as scholars at universities, as well as to work as researchers, experts, and consultants in private and public institutions at both the national and global levels.
