Master’s Program in Political Science and International Relations

Students in the YTÜ Master’s Program in Political Science and International Relations possess a rich and multidimensional body of knowledge in the four main areas of Political Science (Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, and Turkish Politics), and to make competent contributions in their fields. In addition to these main areas, students are also offered the opportunity to specialize regionally in Middle Eastern, Balkan, and European politics. The program, which maintains close ties with other disciplines—primarily political science, history, law, economics, philosophy, and sociology—provides a solid foundation in the social sciences.

Students admitted to the program pursue a master’s degree to deepen the education they received at the undergraduate level and to develop their research and academic communication skills. For many students, this degree serves as a crucial stepping stone for careers in the private or public sectors. For others, the master’s degree serves as a foundation for doctoral-level academic studies. Students who earn a master’s degree from this program may apply to doctoral programs both in Turkey and abroad, if they so desire.
